Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) deported 70 illegal residents last week, according to a press release on Sunday.

“All the legal procedures, including informing respective embassies, were completed before sending the infiltrators back to their home country,” a spokesman for the ROP said.
He also added that the police last week arrested another 224 illegal residents from different parts of the country.
“The army and other security agencies extended help during raids to catch illegal residents,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, the Manpower Ministry also released weekly statistics, stating that 537 expatriate workers were caught last week for violating the country’s residency laws. “A total of 449 workers were caught from commercial establishments, 61 from the agriculture sector and 27 were domestic help,” a spokesman for the Manpower Ministry said.
