Muscat: Five-day Eid Al Fitr holidays for government and public sector will give employees nine-day break in Oman while employees of private sector will get six days.

The government and public sector in Oman works five-day week with Thursday-Friday being a weekend thus this Eid Al Fitr those working in public sector will get a nine-day holiday.

Khalid Bin Hilal Bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Board of Civil Service, announced that government, public sector and state employees will get Eid holdiays from August 18 to 22 and work will resume on August 25.

Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, declared Eid Al fitr holidays for private sector employees from August 18 to August 21. The work will resume in private sector on August 22.

The banking sector in Oman works Sunday to Thursday but Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has yet not announced holidays for the banks in the country.

“It is expected to be from August 19 to August 22,” a source at the CBO said.
