Muscat: An Indian woman in her 30s was arrested for fatally shooting her compatriot friend last week in Salalah province, in southern Oman, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) revealed on Wednesday.

A ROP official told Gulf News the suspect was arrested on Tuesday.

“The female victim was shot multiple times,” the official said.

The victim succumbed to her injuries at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.

“The woman was shot in the neck and chest, and had been on life support for three days,” the official said.

The suspect confessed to her crime and said it was the result of an argument between her and the victim.

She was referred to the public prosecution for further investigation and trial.

He then committed suicide in a nearby building, according to a police official.
