Muscat: Medium to heavy rains, hailstorms, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to lash Oman for three days starting from Thursday evening, according to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (Paca).

The latest satellite images and weather charts reveal the depression is likely to hit Oman on Thursday evening leading to thundershowers, hailstones and strong winds.

The forecast says that most northern parts of the country will be hit by medium to heavy rains.

In a statement, the Paca urged residents to stay away from low-lying areas, as well as overflowing wadis, while crossing roads.

Fishermen and other seafarers have been advised not to venture into the sea unless they are updated with the latest weather forecast.

The heavy rain that lashed northern parts of Oman last March resulted in flash floods in some provinces, which entered houses and farms and caused some properties damage.
