Foundation to set up new orphanage near Muscat
Orphans in Oman will soon have a new home in Al Khodh district on the outskirts of Muscat, the Ministry of Social Development has announced.

Muscat: Orphans in Oman will soon have a new home in Al Khodh district on the outskirts of Muscat, the Ministry of Social Development has announced.
The Bahwan Charitable Foundation, run by leading businessman Shaikh Saud Bin Abdullah Al Mukhaini has been funding the ministry-run orphanage since 1998, but this is the first time the authorities have made a public announcement regarding its existence.
"Since 1998, Saud Bin Abdullah Al Mukhaini began paying special attention to Children's House, run by the Ministry of Social Development. It then housed 20 children," Khusib Bin Mattar Bin Misbah Al Subhi, representative of the foundation told journalists on the sidelines of the launch of the Mohammad Al Ameen Orphaned Children's Village.
Finances
He pointed out that the foundation has initiated work to provide the necessary finances for the ministry to increase the number of children at the current orphanage in Al Khuwair.
"In 2006, when the number of children rose to 100, Shaikh Saud came up with the idea of establishing a new home for orphans in the Sultanate, fully funded by him and administered by the Ministry of Social Development," he said.
Philanthropist Shaikh Saud has formed a group, along with members from the Ministry of Social Development and Foundation and the Bahwan Charitable Foundation. The group will work along the lines of the SOS village, which manages the largest number of orphanages throughout the world.
