Muscat: Three Omanis, including a woman, have been arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) over the murder of another national, an ROP official told Gulf News.

The body of a man in his thirties was found buried near the beach in Hai Aseem of Barka province last week after he was reported missing for five days.

Police said the victim had taken a loan of 1,000 riyals (Dh978) from a man involved in the murder.

The man went to the victim’s house and assaulted him with a blunt object.

The victim’s wife and her brother were accomplices in the murder as they helped bury the victim.

The victim had been missing for five days until his body was discovered.

In another case, two Omanis were accused of murdering a compatriate in his fifties in Nakhal province.

He was found dead on Tuesday morning in Wadi Mawal province by residents.

He was allegedly killed after placing a winning bet in a camel race held in North Batinah governorate. The man was found with gunshot wounds, according to results of a forensic test, the ROP said.

Murder is rare in Oman. In 2015, only six murders were reported.
