The competition is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Oman National Day on November 18.

According to Shaikh Saba Bin Hamdan Al Sa'adi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for the National Day Celebrations, the 13-day competition will be held amidst the beautiful palm trees and fountains at the picturesque Qurum Nature Park in Muscat and a special panel of judges will decide the winners.

He said that each individual display will be carefully choreographed to music and guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.

While Muscat residents will watch one-upmanship in pyrotechnics of fireworks among the global companies, people in the other parts of the country will also enjoy firework displays.

On November 29, residents of Salalah, Khasab, Ibra and Sumayil will be treated to fireworks display as part of the 40th National Day celebrations. The fireworks lined for the other areas are: Rustaq and Sohar (November 30); Al Buraimi, Sur and Suwaiq (December 2); Nizwa, Ibri (December 6) and Quriyat (December 12).

On Oman's National Day, the traditional military parade, which Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed attends every year, will be held in Muscat followed by the National Day festival on November 29. A military music show (Tattoo) will be held on December 1 as national festivities will continue.

"Around 40,000 students will participate in the National Day pageant that will be held in Muscat [December 4] and in Salalah, Khasab, Al Buraimi, Nizwa, Ibri, Sur and Sohar [December 5]," Al Sa'adi added.

Al Sa'adi stated that the Supreme Committee for the National Day Celebrations has made all preparations including illuminating the road from Bait al Baraka Roundabout to Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Muscat.

The country is wearing a festive look with government as well as private buildings lit up with innovative light designs and portraits of the Omani leaders displayed prominently, including the world's largest mosaic portrait of the Omani ruler displayed at the Wave Oman.
