Muscat: Three construction agreements and 23 other agreements worth around 6.66 million rials (Dh63 million) to train and hire a number of Omani job-seekers in various disciplines were signed at the Manpower Ministry on Monday.
The agreements were signed by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, and a number of officials of the implementing companies, training centres and institutes in Oman.
Hamad Bin Khamis Al Ameri, Undersecretary for Technical Education and Vocational Training at the Manpower Ministry, said the first construction agreement was related to constructing a vocational training centre in Buraimi worth 2,967,800 Omani riyals.
The new Vocational Training Centre can accommodate 1,200 men and women students, pointing out that the centre will receive the first batch at the beginning of 2012.
Al Ameri added that cosmetology would be added as one of the new disciplines at the centre to encourage Omani women to take up the profession.
He added that the training agreements were worth 2,706,000 riyals to train 1,223 Omanis.
