Crackdown on illegal workers in Oman continues
The raids were carried out following a tip off that some of these illegal residents were involved in criminal activities
“The police raided around 23 houses in Seeb area in the early hours today and arrested the illegal residents, mostly of Asian origin,” a spokesperson for the ROP’s Public Relations Department said.
He added that raids were carried out following a tip off that some of these illegal residents were involved in criminal activities, including prostitution and providing unauthorised telecommunication services.
According to him, the continuous raids on residential as well as commercial areas to flush out illegal residents was part of a sustained campaign to counter the menace of infiltrators and overstaying expatriates.
He urged expatriates to follow all residency laws and urged citizens as well as residents to report any illegal resident to the police and not give them shelter or employment.
Meanwhile, Manpower Ministry also caught 249 illegal workers during raids at commercial organisation across the country last week.
