Muscat: S. Vishwanath, a Chartered Accountant, won the Oman Sudoku Championship, which was organised by the Black & White Magazine at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel's Oman Auditorium over the last weekend.

Vishwanath was one of the eight contenders who came through the preliminary rounds held at the Indian School Al Ghubrah.

Vishwanath, Aubrey Herbert Rodrigues, Pawan Kumar and Sriram contested in one session and Farida Bhatri, Jade Pereira, Kohilavani Karthikeyan and Premlatha Muralikrishnan were locked in a battle during the second.

The two winners from these two sessions - Vishwanath and Premlatha - then played out the last number-brain tussle.

The competition was held in the presence of the world renowned autistic savant Daniel Tammet and the Omani motivational speaker Shaikh Khalfan Al Esry.

Chief guest Dr Amer Al Rawas, Chief Executive Officer, Omantel, gave away the prizes to the winners.

Vishwanath won an ORIS watch from Khimji Watches, Diamond pendant in white gold from Damas, Samsung Galaxy tab and Netbook from Sarco Establishment.
