Muscat: A bomb threat delayed the departure of Oman Air flight from Trivandrum Airport to Muscat International Airport on Tuesday night.
The flight was delayed as the airport’s officials received information of a suspect package on board.
Nothing was found and the flight left to its destination back to Oman after a delay of one hour and a half, reported Indian media.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 8.40pm, Indian time. One of the passengers in a Muscat-bound flight was interrogated and taken into custody by security personnel.
Investigations are underway by Indian authorities into the incident.
An official at Oman Air confirmed the incident, without giving further details.
Last May, Two Oman Air flights headed for Muscat were diverted to Al Ain following the emergency landing of an Air Arabia flight at Muscat International Airport.
In May, Oman Air also said its Kuala Lumpur-Muscat flight departure was delayed by two and a half hours as it had to offload three passengers who had taken ill.
Last March, Oman Air’s scheduled flight from Paris to Muscat was delayed from Charles de Gaulle Airport due to a bomb hoax. An unidentified person called the airport’s air-traffic control regarding the presence of a bomb as the aircraft was taxiing to take-off.
In 2013, A Kuala Lumpur-bound Oman Air flight from Muscat had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai after a mid-air bomb scare.
A statement released by Oman air said that airline received a bomb threat, which turned out to be a hoax.
