Muscat: The body of the Indian housemaid, who died at Muscat International Airport, after being stranded for five days without a passport, wassent to Chennai late on Monday night by Indian Airlines.
The embassy in Oman completed the necessary travel arrangements for the corpse of Beebi Lumada, who died after developing a delusional disorder.
"The body was flown to Chennai and her relatives have received it," Anil Wadhwa, the Indian ambassador to Oman, told Gulf News.
The 40-year-old Indian woman had a history of hysteria and seizures and it is believed that her sponsor sent her home because of ill health after two-months of employment.
Her hometown is in the Chitoor district of Andhra Pradesh and she was sent to Chennai from Muscat, via Doha by Qatar Airways.
However, she discovered that her passport was missing when she tried to board a connecting flight from Doha to Chennai.
As a result she was sent back to Muscat.
She died, while being taken to Ibn Sinha Psychiatric Hospital last Friday, after five days in the transit area of the Muscat International Airport, which has no hotel or boarding facilities.
