Muscat: Four people were killed in the heavy rains that lashed Oman over the last two days.
Two nationals were killed when their vehicle was washed away by Al Qahmi wadi in the Mahda province on Saturday morning.
Their bodies were found more than a kilometre away from the spot where the vehicle was swept away, an official at the Public Authority of Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) told Gulf News.
Another national was washed away by one of the wadis in Saham province and was later found dead.
An expatriate was killed by the thunderstorm which came along with heavy rains in the wilayat of Sohar.
In a valiant rescue effort, PACDA personnel managed to rescue four Pakistanis after they were washed away by Al Wadyat wadi in the wilayat of Shinas.
Meanwhile, the General Authority for Civil Aviation has confirmed that the weather will continue for two more days in the north of Oman.
For the second consecutive day, wadis are continuing to overflow their banks in northern parts like Batinah, Buraimi, Dhaira and Dhakliya.
The Directorate General of Meteorology and Air Navigation (DGMAN) warned earlier that under the influence of a low pressure area over the Sultanate's skies, some parts may experience heavy rainfall which would be accompanied by thundershowers, strong winds and hail.
