Kuwait: Police in Kuwait have released three girls filmed stealing items from a car parked in their neighbourhood, saying that no case has been filed.

The short video clip from a surveillance camera in the Jaber Al Ahmad area in the capital Kuwait City showed the girls wandering around cars and checking whether they could break into them.

When they found a car that was not locked, they opened the front doors and stole items before fleeing the scene.

“Following the posting of the theft video on social media, investigators in Kuwait City launched a probe and were able to identify and then arrest the girls,” a security source told Kuwaiti daily Al Rai.

“They were two sisters and their neighbour, and they targeted the cars in their neighbourhood just for fun. Investigations revealed that they were just having fun. However, since no case was filed against them, they were released.”

The identity of the girls was not revealed.

Online users said that action should have been taken against the girls to deter them and others from engaging in illegal acts, regardless whether a case was filed against them or the theft was reported by the car owner.
