Manama: Kuwaiti authorities are investigating the case of a Pakistani teacher who is suspected of abusing students during private tutoring sessions.
The case came to light following the circulation of a short video clip showing the 65-year-old teacher abusing a student as he was tutoring her in Mathematics at his residence in the Salmiya area in the capital Kuwait City.
An investigation was launched by the police and the probe led to a Pakistani expatriate teaching in a private school and who has been in Kuwait for 35 years, Kuwaiti daily Al Rai reported on Wednesday.
The private tutoring was taking place in late afternoon following the school day.
The teacher was subsequently arrested and he confessed that he had abused more girls when they went to his house for the private tutoring, the daily added, citing security sources.
The police are now working on determining the extent of the abuse cases and the number of his victims.
All the girls he tutored were called by the police and those who were abused identified the suspect.
According to the Kuwaiti daily, the teacher is most likely to be deported as part of the legal measures to be taken against him.
