Manama: Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a Sudanese man for practicing sorcery and using false information to obtain a visa.
The Sudanese reportedly entered Kuwait two months ago on a “legal consultant” for a private company visa.
However, he promoted himself as a person able to cure the sick and help the needy, scamming people out of thousands of dinars, local daily Al Rai reported on Wednesday.
“He built his reputation quickly and had a large number of ‘clients’ who went to see him seeking cure for their physical or emotional or mental problems,” a security source told the daily.
The police was tipped about the illegal practice of sorcery and black magic and a raid on his house enabled them to find all the tools and amulets he was using to deceive people and take their money.
The suspect told the police that he had come in Kuwait to make money and admitted the practice of sorcery, adding that most of his clients were women
He said that a Sudanese man had facilitated his entry the country by securing him a visa as a legal consultant. He was paid KD 350 for the visa.
The immigration police arrested the accomplice and the two suspects have been referred to the competent authorities for action, the source said.
