Manama: An Indian national had a close brush with death when he fell on the ground as he was escaping from the home of his lover’s sponsor in Kuwait.

The two lovers had agreed to meet in the evening at the domestic helper’s quarters, confident their romance would remain secret.

However, the helper’s sponsor, who was at home when the two lovers met, suspected something unusual was going on and he sought to find out by moving towards the helper’s room.

Alarmed by the sponsor’s move, the Indian national decided to flee the place and, as he was on the roof, thought about using a wire that was lying there, to get to the ground, local daily Al Rai reported on Sunday, quoting security sources.

However, the wire was short by almost four metres and the man jumped to avoid getting caught.

Unfortunately for him, he was injured and reportedly suffered fractures and bruises.

He was spotted by people in the area who alerted the police.

An ambulance took him to hospital for immediate treatment and the police launched an investigation.

He will be questioned once he is in a better condition to answer queries for entering a residence without the permission of its owner, the sources said.

The helper was remanded in custody pending the investigation. She is likely to be charged with helping someone enter a residence without the required permission, the sources added.

Some social media users expressed sympathy with the Indian man, expressing sorrow over the physical pain. However, most users said he deserved to be deported.
