Manama: Rain is not expected in Kuwait until next month, even though temperatures will continue to drop, a Kuwaiti meteorologist has said.
Eisa Ramadan, an expert at Kuwait's Meteorology Centre, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that even though November is traditionally a rainy month, Kuwait is expected to start having rain only in the first week of December.
The highest temperature in the northern Arabian Gulf country will not exceed 25 degrees Celsius in the next few days, he added.
"The end of November and the beginning of December will be cold. Days will be sunny and warm, but temperature is forecast to drop below 10 degrees Celsius at night in desert and open areas."
The meteorologist said that rainfall would be less than its normal average of 115 millimetres in the upcoming season, and winter is expected to be colder than last year due to the effect of the Siberian High Pressure System, which usually generates cold dry air in the Arabian Peninsula.
The expert attributed the weather changes in recent years to global climatic turbulence, that caused the diversion of the rainy low pressure system in the north, away from the Gulf region, and resulted in a lack of rainfall.
