Manama: A prominent UAE businessman, who fled to Kuwait after disappearing while performing umrah in Saudi Arabia, has been arrested.

According to the Kuwait Times, the man, an owner of a major bank in the UAE, reportedly disappeared shortly after reaching Makkah. He was apparently tracked to Kuwait by Emirati police who followed his credit card records in order to locate him.

Shortly after receiving a report about the incident from their counterparts in the UAE, Kuwaiti police began searching for the man, who was apparently discovered attempting to board a flight at Kuwait International Airport. He was handed over to the UAE's Embassy in Kuwait.

Reports suggest that the man is a functioning schizophrenic. Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness characterised by the disintegration of the thought processes and of emotional responsiveness that can generally be controlled with medication. Common symptoms of the disorder include auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, disorganised speech and thinking patterns, and significant social or occupational dysfunction.
