Kuwaitis with air tickets to Britain but stranded in Germany were driven to London while 100 Kuwaitis who were unable to secure flights home have been transferred to a hotel where they will remain under a solution is found, Kuwaiti media reported on Tuesday.

Kuwaitis who preferred to stay in Germany until the skies were cleared were given visas and transferred to a hotel in Frankfurt, the Kuwaiti embassy in Germany said.

The moves were part of the effort by the Kuwaiti authorities to assist all nationals stranded in Europe or facing problems leaving or reaching European cities.

Kuwait's Emir on Sunday had ordered all embassies in Europe to provide special care to all nationals whose travel plans had been disrupted by the shutting down of most European airports.

Kuwait National Bank said that it was providing special assistance to the Kuwaiti nationals who had accounts with the bank and urged them to contact its branches in London, Geneva and Paris.

In Qatar, the Emir Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani postponed an official visit to Germany until weather conditions improved.

In Bahrain, Gulf Air said that it had cancelled 32 flights to European destinations and that it was providing accommodation for 400 stranded passengers.
