Manama: A Kuwaiti lawmaker has urged the government to name and shame all people implicated in the storage and sale of rotten food.

"All those who put people’s lives at risk should be held accountable for their action," MP Shuaib Al Muwaizri said. “The government should shame them so that there is no repeat of what they did,” he said, quoted by Kuwaiti portal Al Aan.

“The government should intensify inspections of the all restaurants, shops and food import companies,” he said.

Shops or companies guilty of mishandling food or selling rotten products should be shut down and have their licence revoked, the lawmaker said.

“An independent anti-corruption authority should be set up to help to help in the fight against corruption,” he said. “Its reports and findings should be made public through the media so that people know what is going on,” he said.
