Citizens of European countries, United States, Canada and Australia will benefit from the decision
Manama: Kuwait will soon allow citizens of 37 countries who are granted visas upon arrival to transfer their visit and commercial visas into residence visas.
Jamal Al Dossari, assistant undersecretary for labour affairs, said the transfer would be unconditional.
Citizens of European countries, United States, Canada and Australia will benefit from the decision, he said, Kuwaiti daily Arab Times reported. They will not have to fulfill any educational requirements.
A memorandum has been forwarded to the minister for approval, he said.
Foreigners who wish to work or live in the Gulf must obtain residence visas that are often related to local sponsorship.
Some Gulf countries grant specific nationalities entry visas valid for a limited period of time at the airport.
