Manama: A court in Kuwait postponed the trial of 15 Kuwaitis on charges of illegal assembly to May 15.
The suspects, including three women, were also charged with resisting security forces and ignoring orders during a rally held on December 18.
The demonstration was part of street pressure tactics adopted by the opposition to repeal the decree that amended the 2006 electoral law and paved the way for parliamentary elections on December 1.
The opposition has long maintained that the amendment that reduced the number of candidates a voter could elect for the parliament from four to one aimed to reduce its influence after winning the elections in December.
The government said that the amendment was necessary to bring the country in line with the international standard of one voter, one vote and to address possible loopholes.
