Manama: Several schools in Kuwait did not resume normal work after the Eid holidays as around 500 teachers failed to show up.

Even though some schools had a high level of student attendance, courses could not proceed for lack of instructors, Kuwait Times reported.

Khalid Al Awadhi, a high school teacher, said that several teachers were missing after the Eid break and that an unusual number of substitutes were needed to enable schools to function properly.

According to officials, the teachers were among about 800 people — expatriates and Kuwaiti citizens — stuck in Saudi Arabia over visa-related issues.
