Manama: Kuwait has released Syrians arrested for storming their embassy building in protest against the political regime in Damascus.

The nine Syrians have denied any wrongdoing. Some claimed that the embassy door was open and that they just walked in, denying that they charged the building, Kuwaiti Arabic daily Al Rai reported on Wednesday.

Others said that they were at the embassy for paper work and did not intend to clash with officials there.

Kuwaiti authorities initially arrested 40 people on February 3 as hundreds of angry Syrians and local activists stormed the Syrian embassy to call for an end to the bloodshed.

The interior ministry said that it made the arrests after a group of Syrian expatriates stormed the embassy in Kuwait City, removed the flag and damaged property.
