Manama: Kuwaiti police are looking for a man wearing a military uniform after he made threats and started a fight in a cafe to show off in front of a woman.

The woman had entered the shisha-serving cafe inJahra area, to the north west of the capital Kuwait City, and headed to a corner table she was accustomed to occupying.

However, when she found another woman sitting there, she asked her to leave, arguing that it was her table.

The woman refused to move to another table and a verbal quarrel ensued, Kuwaiti daily Al Rai reported on Thursday.

The second woman called a friend who seemingly worked with the military and as soon as he arrived, he started shouting and abusing the employees for not booking the table for the woman or making the other woman take another table.

The cafe employees called the operations room of the Ministry of Interior and reported the man who was making loud threats.

However, the man fled the cafe along with the woman just before police patrols reached the area.

An investigation was launched to identify the man and arrest him and the woman.

Onlookers at the cafe said they were shocked by the attitude of the woman and her uniformed friend, and insisted such attitudes should not be tolerated in the conservative Kuwaiti society.

The urged the interior ministry to deploy more personnel in public areas, particularly malls and cafés where shisha is served to ensure social norms and morals are upheld.
