Manama: Kuwait's parliament will reconvene on October 25 as planned, Speaker Jassem Al Kharafi said.

"According to the information I have, the opening of the new legislative term of the National Assembly will be on time on Tuesday at nine o'clock in the morning. I was not aware of anything else," Al Khorafi told reporters.

Al Khorafi's statement puts an end to speculation that the legislative term will be postponed until differences over political and constitutional issues are resolved.

The speaker said that he had received a copy of the ruling issued by the Constitutional Court on the interpretation of some articles of the constitution used by MPs Ahmad Al Saadoun and Abdul Rahman Al Anjeri to file a grilling motion against the prime minister during the last legislative term.

The ruling will be added to the agenda of the session scheduled on November 1, he said.

He said that according to the court interpretation, grilling motions should be filed azgainst the concerned ministers. However, he added that the court did not prevent grilling the prime minister or submitting no cooperation requests.

Al Khorafi said that he had not received any motion from any MP to grill the prime minister on the alleged illegal multimillion deposits into the accounts of some lawmakers.
