Manama: Kuwait’s parliament on Tuesday postponed the debate over the grilling of Yasser Abu Al, the Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of State for Services, to Wednesday.

The postponement was upon a request from the minister in accordance with Article 135 of the parliament’s bylaws that give anyone to be grilled the right to ask for a delay.

On April 25, MP Shuaib Al Muwaizri filed the grilling motion that focused on the minister’s alleged failure to hold into account the companies that made grave errors in the construction of government housing in the northwestern areas of Al Sulaibikhat, Jaber Al Ahmad, and Sabah Al Ahmad.

The motion also touched on developments connected with the housing projects in Al Mutlaa and Khairan areas, saying that the minister also presented misleading information to the parliament on both issues, Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) reported.

Abu Al last month said he was ready and capable of taking the stand at the parliament to respond to the grilling by Al Muwaizri.

“Grilling is a right for the MPs and the government is not concerned about being grilled as we will respond to and refute the allegations. The decision will for the MPs,” Abu Al said.

The minister added that lawmakers had the right to be familiar with the public housing schemes and timetables.

Several lawmakers had filed motions to grill ministers and the prime minister.
