Manama: Kuwait’s opposition has decided to end all protests and rallies at the Willpower Square in Kuwait City “in respect for the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah who is making crucial decisions”.

The decision was announced after Shaikh Sabah tasked Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak with forming a new government, Kuwaiti media reported.

The appointment of the new prime minister followed the resignation of the cabinet chaired by Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammad amid a deep political crisis between the government and several MPs and witnessed unprecedented street pressure tactics that included storming the parliament.

The Square on Monday evening was the scene for one of the largest rallies in the modern history of Kuwait.
