Manama: An Asian domestic helper in Kuwait had the shock of her life when she found out that dozens of cases of debauchery, blackmail and death threats had been filed against her.

The police, alerted about the criminal cases received by several people over the telephone, traced them to the helper who allegedly bought the mobile chips and made them.

However, the investigations revealed that the domestic helper was innocent and that someone had used her identity card to make the calls, local Arabic daily Al Rai reported on Wednesday.

She told the police that she had lost a photocopy of her ID card and someone apparently exploited the situation by buying 40 chips and placing the incriminating calls.

Her sponsor who accompanied her to the police station in Jahra to the northwest of the capital Kuwait City said that he vouched for her integrity and that she had worked for the family for 13 years.

The police are still conducting their investigation to identify the thief and blackmailer and arrest him.
