Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Emir has reiterated his country’s support for the coalition efforts in Yemen, saying that any attack on the security of Gulf Cooperation Council states is an attack on Kuwait’s security and it will be resisted.

Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah pledged that no efforts would be spared in protecting the homeland. Shaikh Sabah was addressing the opening of the National Assembly’s fourth session.

He said the country will safeguard its national unity and “we will never allow sedition and spread of hatred or fomenting the hateful sectarianism or exploiting tribal, racial or class strife.”

Kuwait’s security is part of the GCC security network “and any threat aimed at any Council’s state also targets Kuwait’s security and we should all join hands to resist it,” he said.

“This was embodied when Kuwait was targeted with the flagrant aggression and occupation in 1990, and this was explicitly affirmed recently with the dangerous threats against security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is the security of us all.”

The GCC states, he said, have hastily taken effective action, taking part in the military operation, bravely led by King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, for protecting security of the Kingdom and legitimacy in Yemen.

He called for boosting the brotherly ties among the GCC states in the hope of realising pan-Arab consensus “that may salvage the nation from the abyss and restore its pride and immunity.”
