Manama: Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry undersecretary has “categorically” rejected claims attributed to him that the two-day Arab summit would be reduced to one day and that it would conclude on Tuesday evening.

“I categorically deny reports in the press and social media attributed to me that the 25th Arab summit in Kuwait will conclude tonight,” Khalid Al Jarallah said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (Kuna).

“The allegations are baseless and the agenda for the two days set for the summit had not been changed,” he said in the remarks carried by the official news agency.

According to the schedule, the representatives of the Arab countries will hold a closed-door session on Wednesday morning to approve the draft resolutions. Afterwards, a public session will be held to announce the Kuwait Declaration.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shaikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah will then give a joint news conference with Arab League Secretary General Nabeel Al Araby, Kuna said.

The summit, the first to be held in Kuwait, will not issue a final communiqué. The next summit is to be held next year in Egypt.
