Manama: Police in Kuwait have arrested 26 Bangladeshis for using forged passports to enter the country.

The detained previously lived in Kuwait, but they were deported for various reasons. However, they were able to re-enter the country after they obtained forged travel documents in Bangladesh, Kuwaiti daily Al Anba reported on Monday.

According to the paper, the men who arrived from their home country on different flights admitted that they had bought the fake passports for KD150 - 200 ($540 - 720).

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries often have to deal with cases of forged passports and fake identities by foreigners, mainly from Asia, seeking local contracts.

Some airports have installed biometric eye scanners to confirm the identity of arriving passengers.
