Eid on September 10, Kuwaiti astronomer says

Manama: Eid Al Fitr, the celebrations marking the end of Ramadan, will be on Friday September 10, a Kuwaiti astronomer has said.
"The date, based on astronomical calculations, means that Muslims will be this year fasting 30 days," Dr Saleh Al Ujairi said.
"There will be no need to sight the moon for Eid this year because the majority of Islamic countries will fast for 30 days. It is impossible to sight the moon after the 29th day of Ramadan, so Ramadan will end on Thursday, Sept 9, 2010, whereas Eid will be celebrated on Friday," he said, quoted by Al Anba daily.
Muslims differ on as to when the holy month should start and end, according to whether they believed in scientific calculations or on the sighting of the month with the naked eye.
Most Muslim countries started the fast, one of the five pillars of Islam, on August 11.
