Manama: Media in Kuwait sounded the alarm over suicide attempts among young people after two boys wanted to end their lives in separate incidents.

In Jahra, 32km northwest of Kuwait City, a young boy committed suicide by hanging himself after his mother refused to take him out with her and left him alone at home.

Local Arabic daily Al Watan said that forensic doctors, alerted by Al Jahra Hospital, concluded that the young boy, whose age was not given, died from asphyxiation.

In Riqqa, a 13-year-old boy was miraculously saved by medical staff at Al Adan hospital after he took 460 painkiller pills, Al Watan reported.

"We are facing a shocking and dangerous phenomenon and the alarm should be sounded over the way children behave and how they should be treated," the daily said.
