Manama: Bahrainis should learn from past mistakes to build a stronger and more cohesive nation, the crown prince has said.
“Social interaction between the members of the same family is mandatory regardless of the circumstances,” Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa said. “They must all learn from mistakes, if there is any, in order for their nation to be stronger and more cohesive,” he said as he visited Ramadan majlises.
The next stage in the country’s development should start with full respect of the law and existing constitutional institutions and with the participation of all segments of the Bahraini society, he said.
Bahrain ‘s society has been hit by months of social unrest that has caused deep divisions, often along sectarian lines.
The crown prince, who has been visiting majlises across the country since the start of the sacred month, said that preserving social peace and reinforcing Bahrain’ social texture were “extremely significant.”
“Bahrain has always been for all people. The diversity of its society makes mutual respect a duty for everyone. We consider maintaining social peace and cohesion a principal objective. This is a responsibility that we assume fully in order to ensure that the future generations inherit the values of co-existence and tolerance between all the segments of the society,” he said.
Prince Salman said that despite missed and unexploited opportunities, Bahrain’s higher interests should remain the main focus.
“We must extend bridges and bolster optimism in order to fulfil our ambitions of protecting and moving forward with the nation,” he said.
The crown prince said that wisdom was needed to address issues affecting the country.
“There is a need to use wisdom and objectivity in dealing with alien ideologies that undermine social peace and impact interaction between the sons of the same country. We have succeeded to address them in the past and we will succeed again by joining our efforts,” he said.
