Manama: Bahrain said that four foreigners have been detained for breaking entry rules and involvement in illegal activities.
“The Director General of the Capital Governorate Police has confirmed that four foreign nationals were detained yesterday in Bahrain,” a statement said on Monday.
“The four are suspected of offences including entering Bahrain illegally after they submitted false information to border staff, and participating in an unlawful gathering.”
The statement carried by Bahrain News Agency (BNA) added that the four individuals whose nationality was not revealed “have been afforded full legal rights in line with the kingdom’s procedures and constitution while investigations continue.”
The Director General said that one of the individuals was detained after he was caught as he was participating alongside a group of saboteurs in rioting in Sitra, south of the capital Manama. He had his face covered while he was involved in acts that targeted policemen.
The other three individuals were arrested at a police check point in the same area.
According to the report, the four people entered Bahrain on February 11 and 12.
They reportedly claimed they had arrived in Bahrain for tourism purposes. Some of them were implicated, in addition to committing acts of sabotage and rioting, in carrying out media activities without receiving the permit from the competent authorities, the Director General said.
