Manama: A forum to discuss Iranian threats to pan-Arab security is set to take place in Bahrain’s capital Manama on August 6.

The forum titled ‘No Rights Without Security’ will be attended by leading Arab politicians, rights activists and academics.

The attendees will discuss and help draw up a collective pan-Arab national strategy to confront Iranian interference in which a team of experts will follow up on the recommendations of the symposium.

A partnership will be built with all Arab parties, including governmental authorities, NGOs, political parties and intellectual entities.

A statement released by the Arab Federation ahead of the forum warned against the dangers of Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries.

“Such interference jeopardises Arab security and threatens the stability and sovereignty of Arab countries,” the statement said.

The statement slammed Iran’s expansionist policies and blamed it for fuelling sectarian conflicts in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.

It also said it was working to subvert security inside these countries, as well as in GCC states.

“The Iranian regime succeeded in exploiting the instability which reigned in the region over the past years to expand in the Arab world,” the statement said, adding that Iran harbours terrorists.

The forum’s organisers say the they hope the gathering will help cement Arab identity on the basis of common cultural and intellectual traits based on a shared and deep-rooted Arab history and millennia-old civilisation.
