Manama: A female sailor was found dead in her residence on Sunday morning at the US Navy base, the Navy said.
The woman who could not be named until her family is notified was found at 9.20 local time (9.20 am UAE).
The cause of the death is under investigation, the Navy said in a statement sent to Gulf News.
Bahrain is the home of the U.S. fifth fleet and about 3,000 staff live and work on the base, and generally keep a low profile.
Last October, two women sailors, Anamarie Sannicolas Camacho, 20, of Panama City, Florida, and Genesia Mattril Gresham, 19, of Lithonia, Georgia were found killed in their barrack on base. Their alleged shooter, Clarence Jackson, lapsed into coma from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was flown to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
