An Indian in his 30s had a lucky escape after doctors successfully removed a two-inch nail from his genitals.
Manama: An Indian in his 30s had a lucky escape after doctors successfully removed a two-inch nail from his genitals.
The labourer who suffered for three days from extreme pain before eventually going to a hospital said that he was walking from Muharraq to Hidd after dinner when he was attacked by a gang of young Bahrainis and lost consciousness.
"When he woke up, he discovered that his money and mobile were missing. He also felt terrible abdominal pain, but did not check into a hospital because he was staying illegally in the country," medial sources told Gulf News.
When the agony became unbearable, the 37-year-old labourer went to Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain's largest hospital, where doctors carried three X-rays that showed no abnormality. With the pain persisting, the doctors had a fourth X-ray and discovered the thin nail.
A cystoscopy was performed immediately on the victim who said that he was not aware of anything being pushed into his genitals during the attack.
"This terrible case is the first to be seen at the hospital and has baffled everyone," the sources said.
