Manama: Individualist state policies are no longer an option as the latest developments demand coordination and cooperation within a larger group, Bahrain’s prime minister has said.

“Arab and Gulf coordination may have been an option in the past, but it has today become a vital necessity to confront challenges,” Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa said. “It is no longer possible for any country to pursue an individualist policy or to break away from the Arab or Gulf consensus, particularly that the region is being targeted,” Prince Khalifa said as he received lawmakers in the Bahraini capital Manama on Sunday.

Bahrain’s national priorities will not be overlooked, particularly the security and stability of the nation and remaining immune to the fast-moving developments in the region and their implications, the prime minister said.

“Bahrain is a peaceful country that is always reaching out to all communities with an outstretched hand for good living and it is placing cooperation ahead of all matters,” Prince Khalifa said. “However, at the same time, it does not accept bargaining over its security and stability and it will not allow that its social fabric be targeted in attempts to serve agendas that sow discord and undermine the domestic front,” he said.

Prince Khalifa said that the government would always support cooperation with the parliament.
