Manama: Bahrain’s resilient growth is a direct result of determined efforts over past decades to provide an environment that is conducive to advancing the Kingdom’s sustainable development plan, Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa has said.
Speaking during visits to three Ramadan majlises, Prince Salman, who is also Bahrain’s First Deputy Prime Minister, said the principles of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 — sustainability, competitiveness and fairness — continue to inform every aspect of the Kingdom’s sustainable development efforts.
Such principles help to facilitate investment across the non-oil sector and guarantee high-value employment opportunities, he said.
As for the steady growth of Bahrain’s non-oil sector, which now accounts for more than 80 per cent of Bahrain’s thriving economy, it serves to demonstrate the importance of facilitating public-private partnerships, Prince Salman was quoted as saying by Bahrain News Agency (BNA) late on Tuesday.
Public-private partnerships
Highlighting the commitment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states — Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE — to bolstering economic cooperation and collaboration, Prince Salman said that the GCC’s development strategies were directly aimed at advancing sustainable development across the region.
The Crown Prince welcomed Saudi Arabia’s new economic strategies and programmes, saying they would play an important role in supporting long-term development across the wider region.
The Crown Prince said that under the directives of King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa, Bahrain continues to prioritise programmes that ensure citizens’ aspirations are met in full.
The government, led by Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, continues to play a crucial role in advancing Bahrain’s diversification efforts through the advancement of regulatory frameworks that encourage investment and growth across key economic sectors, Prince Salman added.
Investing in the citizens’ futures remains a vital pillar of Bahrain’s development plan, and the Kingdom strives to enhance the role of the public sector to promote the principles of fairness and competitiveness, which will help support citizens’ long-term goals, he said.
Prince Salman traditionally visits majlises during Ramadan and holds conversations with the hosts and guests about a wide spectrum of issues relevant to the kingdom.
On Monday, the first day of the holy month, Prince Salman visited three majlises in the evening and highlighted “the important role Ramadan plays in fostering the principles of peace, unity, security and solidarity,”.
He said that such fundamental values underpinned the strong bonds among Bahrain’s people and the country’s prosperity.
