Manama: Bahrain’s emphasis on closer relations with Asian countries will be reinforced on Sunday as King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa starts a state visit to Kazakhstan.

Earlier this year, King Hamad visited India and Pakistan on different occasions in a historic development for relations between Bahrain and the two Asian countries.

King Hamad also visited China, Japan and Thailand.

Food security and regional issues of mutual interest will be on the agenda of the visit, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

According to the Kazakh non-resident Ambassador to Bahrain Bahtyar Tassymov, the two countries “will sign more than ten bilateral agreements on the sidelines of the major visit.”

The diplomat added that agreements would cover investments, agriculture, banking, culture and education, in addition to the industrial sector, the official news agency said.

All previous visits by King Hamad to Asian countries have been termed as successful by both Manama and the capitals he visited, and analysts in Bahrain said that they looked forward to new accomplishments.

“Asian countries can provide Bahrain with its needs to consolidate the development programmes and plans it had launched some time ago,” Mohammad Shahat said. “Bahrain can greatly benefit from the successes of Asian countries, both near and far geographically, in the area of developments,” he said.
