Manama: Bahrain has reiterated its commitment to fighting terrorism and to supporting international cooperation in this regard.

Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that the eradication of extremist ideologies and their financial resources was key to achieve lasting stability and security within the region.

“Bahrain is committed to upholding the principles of coexistence and openness, and that Bahrain, alongside its international partners, will resolutely combat terrorist organisations,” Prince Salman said as he received Vice Admiral Mark Fox, Deputy Commander of the United States Central Command.

The crown prince, who is also Bahrain’s first deputy prime minister, said that the abhorrent attacks carried out by terrorist groups were entirely unrepresentative of Islamic principles, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Issues of shared interest as well as the long-standing strategic relationship between Bahrain and the United States were also discussed during the meeting, the official news agency said.

Bahrain in February joined the international military alliance to fight terrorism and deployed fighter jets to Jordan, to launch operations against extremists and terrorists.
