Manama: Bahrain has paid rich tribute to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), thanking the country and its leadership for their assistance during critical times.

The parliament hosted a reception attended by the MPs and officials to "express profound gratitude to the UAE and its people and leaders for standing by Bahrain in times of need."

Public and private schools took time off studies to pay tribute to the "special bonds between the two countries and to thank Emiratis for their steady and robust support."

Exhibition Avenue, Manama's bustling area and where most Gulf nationals congregate over the weekend, and several malls were the scenes for fanfare and celebrations.

UAE Day in Bahrain

"It is UAE Day in Bahrain and we wish to express our deep love for all Emiratis," Maram Mohammad, a social network fan, wrote. "They were there when we needed them, and they did hesitate or blink for a nanosecond. We love them and we want to show our gratitude and appreciation," she wrote.
