Manama: King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa on Wednesday ordered the cancellation of all New Year concerts in a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza following days of massive Israeli attacks.

"In line with the instructions of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa and in solidarity with the Palestinian people who are under an Israeli savage Israeli aggression, all concerts and events celebrating the New Year have been cancelled," Bahrain News Agency said on Wednesday.

"The culture and information ministry has requested all hotels and establishments to comply with the instructions."

Several Arab and foreign singers, including Iraqi star Kadhem Al Saher, were scheduled to hold concerts in Manama where several Gulf nationals congregate to mark the occasion.

Thousands of Bahrainis and expatriates, mostly Arabs, have held mass rallies throughout Bahrain to protest against the Israeli aggression. The parliament on Tuesday issued a communiqué expressing full solidarity with the Palestinians and condemning the Israeli attacks.

UAE, Jordan and Tunisia are among the Arab countries that have also announced the cancellation or postponement of all celebrations of the New Year, while several singers and entertainers elsewhere said that they would not hold their concerts.
