Dubai: Bahrain’s interior minister on Monday toured three Gulf states to discuss security cooperation.

Rashid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on Monday and met with senior officials in each of the countries.

Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defence, Shaikh Mohammad Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah, and visiting Bahraini Minister of Interior Al Khalifa discussed bilateral security coordination and cooperation.

The Kuwait News Agency, Kuna, quoted the Interior Ministry’s information office as saying that both ministers had considered ways of enhancing bilateral security efforts in order to address the current regional security developments.

During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad Al Sabah commended such visits and meetings as providing chance to exchange views on regional security challenges and how to consolidate security cooperation between both sides, according to the ministry.

Al Sabah added that he and the Bahraini minister shared the same views on a host of regional security issues that concern Kuwait and Bahrain.

The Bahraini minister thanked his Kuwaiti counterpart for the warm welcome and hospitality afforded him, underlining the significance of security cooperation in the light of various criminal phenomena and issues that necessitate closer cooperation within the GCC.

He voiced satisfaction with the outcomes of his talks with Shaikh Mohammad Al Sabah as “fruitful, constructive and positive”.

Earlier in the day Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, discussed with Bahraini interior minister bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), they reviewed and discussed the latest developments at the GCC, Arab and international arenas.

The meeting was attended by Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Advisor to the Interior Minister, General Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammad Al Huwaireeni, Director-General of General Investigations, and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary of the Minister of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residency of Bahrain.

On the same day, the Bahraini interior minister also met in the UAE with General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

The two sides exchanged cordial talks on a number of issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador of Bahrain to the UAE, Mohammad Bin Hamad Saqr Al Maawda, and a number of UAE and Bahraini police officers attended the meeting.
