Manama: Bahrain on Sunday condemned the Israeli attacks on Gaza among increasing calls for clear support to the Palestinians and mass demonstrations to condemn the Israelis and their supporters.
King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa, during a phone conversation with the Qatari Emir Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, expressed his support to hold an emergency Arab summit that will agree on a unified stance towards the aggression, the Bahrain News Agency said. In Muharraq hundreds congregated in front of Kanoo Mosque to condemn the aggression and call upon all Arab states to "end their shocking silence and work on putting an end to the massacre."
Emergency session
In parliament, Al Asala, the second largest bloc, said it was coordinating with the other parliamentary blocs to hold an emergency session devoted to the situation in Gaza.
"We do not want to see the same old positions that mean nothing to anyone," Ganem Buaynain, the head of the bloc, said.
For Al Wefaq, the largest society, the "bloodbath will not be confined to Gaza if Arabs remain silent towards the savage massacres executed by the Zionists under the protection of the Americans and others."
The Democratic Rally, a pan-Arab society, said that the attacks were part of a long process of "inhuman massacres, killing of innocent people and starving populations."
