Manama Bahrain’s ambassador to France has “strongly denied” allegations that he and his son had harassed a former employee, saying they were “inaccurate and unfounded.”
French media reported that prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation after a 44-year-old woman complained she had been harassed sexually by Dr Nasser Al Beloushi, between July 2010 and October 2011 at his home in the Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine.
The woman, whose name and nationality were not revealed, initially accused the envoy of rape, but on Monday afternoon told French investigators, through an interpreter, that she had successfully thwarted his attempts.
According to the French media, medical tests could be done this month.
The former employee also filed a complaint against the ambassador’s son, accusing him of threatening her with a gun in September 2010.
The woman was sacked at the end of 2011.
