Manama: A Bahraini court on Monday sentenced 32 people to 15 years in prison each on charges of damaging farms and private property belonging to members of the royal family.
The National Safety Court said that the defendants were also guilty of possessing and carrying Molotov cocktails.
According to testimonies, a large number of masked men on March 16 broke through the main gate of properties in Karzakan and Damistan, south of Manama, the capital.
The verdicts can be appealed.
In a separate case, the Court of Cassation also on Monday postponed the review of the appeal presented by the lawyers of two defendants sentenced to death for their alleged role in the killing of two policemen.
The court said that it would also look into the appeals by other defendants in the case who had been sentenced to life in prison.
The National Safety Court of Appeals in May maintained the death penalty issued by the National Safety Court of First Instance against Ali Abdullah Hassan Al Singees and Abdul Aziz Abdul Ridha Ebrahim Husain after it said that they were guilty of killing the two policemen in March as security men were conducting an operation to evacuate the then Pearl Roundabout, the headquarters for demonstrations and rallies.
However, the court commuted the death penalty against Qasim Hasan Matar Ahmad and Saeed Abdul Jalil Saeed to life in prison.
